In our test environment, we changed the useful life of an asset from 5 years to 7 years, then ran depreciation. (Depreciation key is LINA). The system correctly calculated a correction for the first six periods of the current fiscal year. However, the planned depreciation calculation for the remaining periods of the fiscal year has not taken prior depreciation into account. The planned depreciation shows that SAP has calculated future depreciation from the original value of the asset divided by 84 months. Effectively, the book value of the asset will reach zero in 78 months, since the prior fiscal year's depreciation is not being considered in the new calculation.
How have you changed the useful life of an asset and had future depreciation calculate correctly? What step did I miss?
